While hats, boots or wool pants are some people´s favourites during the colder seasons, sweaters and coats are mines. Chunky, textured, in warm and neutral hues, pleasing to the skin; I like to keep it minimal with organic shapes.
When I started writing this post the first sweater I thought of was a Burberry dark grey cashmere and wool cardigan I have kindly taken from my mom´s closet over 8 years ago. She actually bought it over 16 years ago on sale in London, and to no surprise it´s still looking brand new, although I have used it to satiation. So I would strongly recommend investing the good bucks in a quality/pricey sweater, which definitely pays off in the end.
What you should consider when investing in one:
Many people think it twice before opting for a too delicate knit, maybe they are too lazy if dry cleaning is mandatory, but truth be told noble materials are the first thing I check when choosing a sweater.
Ask yourself: is it for everyday? night? both? countryside?
PICK A CLASSIC COLOUR
Choose a neutral colour you will use again and again every season.
Are the sleeves too big or baggy? will your coat fit over it? If you love scarfs, will the turtle neck be a problem?
Do you want to use a plain t-shirt underneath? maybe a shirt with a little bit of volume? Size up if the latter is the case.
